In our latest Rumble podcast episode, Amanda Radke, host of The Heart of Rural America podcast, is a very special guest today on GovWatch, sharing her thoughts and perspective on certain committee appointments happening in our state legislature that has caused some concern and raised a few eyebrows. I noticed that while many seemed concerned, the ranchers/farmers who have been on the front lines of the property rights fight for years now weren’t concerned at all and actually seemed quite “comfy” while remaining watchful and engaged and totally backing Chris Karr, regardless of the committee assignments he made. Amanda offered her insight on it all and it was a very fun and encouraging conversation!
On top of that, she listed off ways The People can get involved in helping push for eminent domain reform, from attending various PUC meetings starting in January to attending a Property Rights Rally in Pierre:
She also listed out ways to stay engaged and involved when the question came up concerning what property rights fighters/land owners are doing right now:
We are most certainly not sitting back. There’s much work to do between now and when the legislative session even begins! And our contingency plans have contingency plans! We aren’t going on year 4 or fighting this thing without thinking ahead and planning for the worst.
I just want to reiterate a few things we can all be doing as citizens while the legislators do their job.
1. Attend our private property rights rally on Jan. 13. Noon at the rotunda in Pierre. We have a clear mandate, and I want it to echo loudly in the Capitol for all the legislators to hear as the session kicks off.
2. Sign up to be an intervenor on Summit’s new application. Fill out the form here and get yourself party status to have a seat at the table. https://puc.sd.gov/…/HP24-001/PartyStatusApplication.pdf
3. Clear your schedule and make plans to be at one or more of these Summit – PUC public meetings (See list of PUC meetings in picture above)
4. Start going to county commission meetings & ask your elected officials to pass an ordinance to protect your community against this dangerous carbon pipeline.
5. Keep an eye on the bills that are introduced and show up to Pierre for committee meetings and floor votes to advocate for the private property rights and eminent domain reform we the people deserve! And when you come, fill up your vehicle with neighbors! There’s strength in numbers!
There’s so much going on these days in South Dakota, and in a way, that’s a good thing! We’re fighting on so many fronts, but I think it’s showing that the sleeping giant has awakened when We, The People of South Dakota were expected to just roll over and allow our Constitutional rights to be violated, our land taken from us and we wouldn’t care. They thought wrong! It’s taken years but we are in a position now for great victories, all by the grace of God and His intervention, strength and help. I think if we can continue to work as a team on all fronts, we will see nothing but wins in 2025.
Keep up the good fight in the Name of Jesus!
